The Chef's House

The client for this project is a chef. It has been a unique experience, discussing his passion for this home from day one. It’s all art—just as we evolve spaces, they evolve food.

The design brief began with his desire for earthy finishes. We decided to go with CSEB walls using mud mortar, lime plaster, and cement oxide finishes. The flooring is done with Athangudi tiles, which blend beautifully with the palette the client envisioned.

This 1100 sq. ft. home includes a living room, open kitchen, puja space, and two bedrooms on the ground floor, with a 1BHK on the first floor.

The house opens into a living room, with natural light pouring in from the east-facing windows. A built-in seater between the living area and the open kitchen, facing the puja, creates a warm conversation space just beyond the main living area.

The terracotta slope-roofed first floor welcomes you with a built-in seat facing the open terrace. The living space upstairs is small, yet it feels expansive thanks to ample natural light, a high ceiling, and built-in furniture. The ferrocement shelves have been designed in gentle curves and finished in cement oxide, adding to the fluidity and warmth of the space.

The bedroom features a filler slab roof, merging both terracotta and cement oxide finishes.
